(HOUSTON, TX)– A new report explores Hispanics and Asian-Americans’ views of immigration reform legislation being considered in congress. While most support creating a pathway to citizenship for unauthorized immigrants, pew research center’s Mark Hugo Lopez says most Hispanics and a significant share of Asian-Americans say relief from deportation is more important than a pathway to citizenship.

“Annually, about 400-thousand immigrants are deported from the United States each year and, among them, more than 90 per cent are Hispanic.

Lopez is the Director of Hispanic Research with Pew Research Centers.
