A disappointing December Jobs Report. Employers added just 74-thousand new positions. That is the lowest figure in three years. Now the debate in Congress over the proper economic policies.
Republican Congressman Kevin Brady from the Woodlands says the Obama administration has failed to deliver a true economic recovery.
Brady says “not a single month of the current recovery matches even the equivalent of an average month of the Reagan recovery and that is disappointing. We all know we have to do better.”
But during a joint economic committee hearing with Brady, Democratic Congresswoman Amy Klobuchar pointed out more Americans are now working than they were 12 months ago.
Klobuchar says “the unemployment rate currently 6.7 percent is down more than a percentage point from last December when it was 7.9 percent.”
The Labor Secretary says before December, the U.S. had seen 46 straight months of job growth.
