Tiffany Klapheke, 23, is charged with three felony counts of injury to a child for starving her 22 month old daughter to death in August 2012, according to Daily Mail.
Klapheke was arrested in west Texas August 2012 after she called the police to report her daughter’s death. She blames her actions on depression due to her husband’s, an airman overseas at the nearby Air Force Base, deployment overseas. Klapheke says his absence left her with a lot of stress and admits she should have taken better care of 22 month old Tamryn Klahpeke.Follow @news92fm
Daily Mail reports the autopsy found daughter lacked basic care and was dehydrated and covered in chemical burns. The toddler was allegedly left to die in a feces and urine covered crib.
Prosecutors say Klapheke locked Tamryn in a room for four days before she found her dead and called the police. To add to the unbelievable details, Child Protective Services records reveal that she had a boyfriend, also an active service member, at the time of her daughter’s death.
Klapheke is represented by Houston local defense attorney George Parnham, who also has represented women like Andrea Yates, a mother who drowned her five children in a bathtub. In opening statements, Parnham spoke of sexual abuse and neglect his client suffered by growing up in foster homes.
Her trial began Wednesday.
