If your “Draft Day” ticket came with a remote control, you’d be hitting the fast forward button before the end of the first reel.
What should be an edge-of-your-seat, behind-the-scenes drama about of the biggest annual event in the NFL next to the Super Bowl, drags its feet like a retired lineman. Fortunately, there is sufficient suspense and intrigue, with ample twists and turns, all of which build to a very satisfying, high energy climax.

While the “Draft Day” story is fairly unique, we’ve seen all of these characters before in “Any Given Sunday,” “North Dallas Forty,” and “Jerry Maguire.”
The egotistical owner. The coach under pressure. The anxious college players waiting to become millionaires. And the world weary but deceptively clever manager introduced to audiences by Brad Pitt in “Moneyball” and dispatched here with detached aplomb by the dependable Kevin Costner. Except, Brad Pitt did it better.
“Draft Day” is not a great movie but football fans are going to love it and that’s who they made it for.
