HOUSTON (AP) – Houston rookie George Springer had a tough start to his major league career.
But as he completes his first month in the majors he’s beginning to show why he was one of the most prized prospects of the Astros.
In his first 14 games the 2011 first-round pick hit just .182 with no home runs. Since then, he’s hit .286 with three homers as he’s settled in as Houston’s everyday right fielder.
Manager Bo Porter says he thinks Springer has improved because he’s been able to “slow the game down.” Springer agrees and says that he feels increasingly comfortable every day.
