(HOUSTON) — About 400 wounded veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan made their way through the gates at Bush Intercontinental Airport on Friday, cheered on by hundreds of supporters.
The Houston Police Department joined the Wounded Warrior Project to help put on the reception for the start of Warrior Weekend.

“They shed their blood on foreign soil for our freedoms, and we’re allowed to have this blanket of freedom because of these young men and women,” HPD Capt. G.J. Freeman said.
Charter buses were waiting at the airport to take the vets to Port O’Connor for a weekend of deep-sea fishing.
