OK guys, the bar has officially been raised in the world of marriage proposals.
One of the more creative wedding proposals ever took place just a week ago in Houston.
Firefighter Jesse Gonzales popped the question by setting up a fake house fire in the area where his girlfriend, who is a Houston cop, was on patrol. HPD dispatchers, who were in on the plan, sent her to the scene, but when she got there, Jesse came walking out of a smoky garage — dropped down on one knee and asked her to be his bride.
Gonzales says he’s taken some flack from people who think the proposal was a big waste of resources and tax dollars, but he promises the whole thing was done with the approval of both the fire and the police departments. If either the fire engine or his fiance’ had received a real emergency call, they would have dropped what they were doing and responded. Plus, the firefighters who were present were actually performing a training exercise while setting the scene for the big moment. By the way, she said yes. The wedding date has not been set but Gonzales admits he has a lot of work to do if he wants to top this.
