HFD said the small plane hit a grassy area and came to a stop in a parking lot behind a building on Pinemont near Highway 290.
Joy Stafford works in the building and saw the plane as it was approaching.
“It was losing altitude, and then I noticed that towards the corner it was starting to bank, so I knew it was getting ready to possibly either land or crash,” Stafford said. “Considering the angle and the way he came in, I didn’t think it was a prepared landing.”
Luckily, the parking lot wasn’t full because the building operates with a light staff on Fridays. No one was injured, and no cars were hit.
There was a pilot and passenger on board. We’re told both were OK.
