(WASHINGTON) — The U.S. Labor Department said that there were about 4.6 million advertised job openings in May, the most since June 2007.
The latest figures from the Labor Department represent the most positive job outlook since before the recession began.
At its worst in 2009, there were about seven unemployed Americans for every available job. Currently, that figure is down to about two unemployed Americans per available job.
However, USA Today reports that the number of individuals hired dipped from 4.8 million to 4.7 million.
