Fire Chief Allegedly Spent $25K in Fire House Funds at La. Casino

(GALVESTON COUNTY, TX) – A former Crystal Beach fire chief has been indicted on charges of theft, the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office said.

David Miles Loop, 56, is charged with theft by a public servant and misapplication of fiduciary property, second and third degree felonies, respectively.

Loop is accused of charging more than $25,000 to the Crystal Beach Volunteer Fire Department’s credit card at a Louisiana race track and casino.

He also allegedly misappropriated more than $45,000 of the department’s money.

The indictments come as the result of a nine month investigation by the Sheriff’s office.

His bonds have been set at $15,000 total.
