News92FM Reporter Dennis Spellman has spent more than a decade reporting in Houston on Radio and TV. Dennis' career spans 25 years as an anchor, reporter, producer, and news director. His career began at his hometown radio station while he was still in high school. He worked as a control board operator and reporter.
"I remember getting a tour of the radio station when I was 17 years old and immediately knowing this is what I want to do," Dennis said.
Prior to joining News 92 FM Dennis served as Vice President of External Affairs and Information Technology with the Houston Housing Authority. He also served as Vice President of the Board of Directors for the non-profit Houston Housing Resource which aids public housing residents in achieving self-sufficiency.
Dennis earned his BA from the University of New Hampshire where he studied communications and economics.
Breaking news is also one of Dennis' strengths. He spent more than 10 years working in the beautiful city of Portland, Maine. While there he regularly won awards for spot news coverage. As news director of WGAN-AM he also led a team of reporters that routinely won first place honors in numerous categories from the Associated Press, and the Maine Association of Broadcasters. His success landed him on the anchor desk for Portland's ABC-TV affiliate WMTW where he delivered the news weeknights at 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
After moving to Houston Dennis was nominated for an Emmy for investigative journalism, and honored by the Harris County Medical Society with the Francis C. Moore Medical Journalism Award.
