NBA via Dallas Mavericks(DALLAS) -- After missing the playoffs this past season, Dirk Nowitzki is willing to do whatever it takes to get back to the postseason, even if it means making far less money than he's accustomed to.If the team is able to land a free agent this summer such as Chris Paul or Dwight Howard, Nowitzki has assured the organization that he'll take a big pay cut after next season when his contract is up so the team can land even more talent.Next season, Nowitzki will enter the final season of a four-year, $80 million contract. Over the course of his 15-year career, Nowitzki has earned $204 million, which is the fifth-most in NBA history. Since he's made his money, Nowitzki wants more rings."At this piont in my career, it's all about competing and winning," Nowitzki said. "It's not about money. Obviously, Cuban took care of me for a long, long time. I always tried to pay him back by hard playing and being here for this franchise, so I don't think we're going to fight over money. I want to compete over these last couple of years. That's going to be the goal."The Mavericks are hoping to have enough salary cap space this summer to give out a max-deal. If Nowitzki takes a big enough pay cut, they could land a second max-player during next season's offseason.

Warriors All-Star Stephen Curry scored 22 points despite being bothered by a hurt ankle and rookie Harrison Barnes put in 26 points in the overtime win.
"I've been trying to just go out there, just contribute," Barnes said after the big win. "Obviously I know I'm going to make some mistakes. I do the best I can when playing the floor and just trying to get the team wins."
Game 5 is Tuesday in San Antonio and Warriors head coach Mark Jackson isn't surprised by his team's effort on Sunday.
"This is what these guys have been, this is how hard they work, this is how they're committed," Jackson said. "It's a special season for this basketball team and this group of guys."
Spurs forward Manu Ginobili scored 21 points off the bench and Tim Duncan added 19 in the loss. Tony Parker was held to 17 points and just three assists.
"We got in overtime and we didn't make shots," Spurs head coach Greg Popovich said. "They executed, they made some shots."

D. Kersey/Getty Images(HOUSTON) -- Philip Humber threw the 21st perfect-game last year in the MLB, but a year later will now be searching for a new team.
The Houston Astros designated Humber for assignment on Sunday after he failed to get through the top of the sixth inning against the Texas Rangers on Saturday. Humber gave up five runs in relief and only recorded two outs.
Humber was 0-8 with a 9.59 ERA this season with Houston.

Al Bello/Getty Images(OKLAHOMA CITY) -- The flu didn't mess up James Harden's game.
Harden, who missed the morning shootaround due to sickness, scored a team high 31 points, and hit 7 of 9 from 3-point land leading the Houston Rockets past the Oklahoma City Thunder, 107-100 Wednesday night.
The Rockets have now won two straight and trail the Thunder 3-2 in their best-of-seven playoff series.
"I just tried to go out there and give it all I had," Harden said of the win. "Not participating the in the shoot-around this morning. Just sleeping until it was game time. I just tried to go out there and give it all I had. It was win or go home so I got some shots to fall and I tried just not to think about it."
The Thunder, who are without Russell Westbrook for the remainder of the playoffs, received 36 points from Kevin Durant in the loss.
Houston, like Boston, is trying to become the first team in NBA history to comeback from a 3-0 playoff series deficit.
Game 6 is Friday in Houston. Tip-off expected at 9:30 p.m. Eastern.

Al Bello/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- Kevin Garnett scored 16 points and grabbed 18 rebounds, and Jeff Green hit two clutch 3-pointers down the stretch to give the Boston Celtics a 92-86 victory over the New York Knicks Wednesday night.

The win is Boston's second straight, and the Celtics now trail the best-of-seven series 3-2.

The Celtics are looking to become the first team in NBA history to comeback from a 3-0 deficit.
If the Celtics do comeback, they won't be the first team in Boston to make playoff history. In 2004 the Boston Red Sox became the first team in Major League Baseball to overcome a 3-0 playoff series deficit when it took out the New York Yankees. In 2010 the Boston Bruins became only the third team in NHL history to blow a 3-0 lead when it lost to the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Knicks players wore black to the game to possibly prepare for the Celtics "funeral," and it looked early like the Knicks might actually back up their word.
New York started the game on an 11-0 run, but the Celtics buckled down and cut the lead to two by the end of the quarter.
Carmelo Anthony led all players with 22 points, but those points came on 8 of 24 shooting from the field, including 0 for five from 3-point land.
Meanwhile, the Celtics hit 11 of their 22 3-pointers, with Jason Terry hitting 5 of 9 from off the bench.
Game 6 is in Boston Friday night, where the Knicks will look to win their first playoff series since the 1999-2000 season.
